USC Submits Idea For Astrodome Use

What that idea consists of, however, remains a mystery-- even to the Astrodome operators.
"We don't have any idea at this point," said Harris County Sports and Convention Corporation Executive Director Willie Loston.
"What we will be discussing and possibly approving is a non-disclosure agreement, which would then, after that is executed, they would share whatever their thoughts are with us," Loston added.
USC has not yet commented on the proposal.
In recent months, the Astrodome has appeared headed for demolition. In March, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell hinted that destroying the building and creating 2,500 new parking spots at a cost of nearly $30 million, would improve Houston's chances of winning the hosting rights to Super Bowl LI in 2017 over other bidding cities like San Francisco and Miami. Houston last hosted Super Bowl XXXVIII in 2004.
The Astrodome was the world's first domed stadium when it was opened in 1965 and hosted notable events including the famed college basketball game labeled the "Game of the Century" between UCLA and the University of Houston in 1968, which was won by Houston.
