Students at La Salle High School, an Ohio Catholic School, were placed under immediate lockdown early Monday after a student of the school pulled out a gun and shot himself in his classroom. The student pulled out the gun in his first-period classroom around 8:00am in an apparent suicide attempt police said.

The administrators of La Salle along with police lifted the lockdown after police confirmed there was no additional threat to the students or local community. According to 19 Action News the Director of Community Development, Greg Tankersley, at La Salle said the student is "fighting for his life" and urged the community to send prayers to the students of La Salle and the students family.

As of mid-afternoon in Cincinnati the student was labeled in critical condition and his parents have requested privacy during this difficult time.

Police saw no apparent threat to anyone else at the school and have sense allowed students to be dismissed to their parents. There have been no further reports on the investigation into the incident including how the student obtained the weapon.
