McConnell Campaign Caught Planning Attacks Against Ashley Judd
The tape was recorded in early February at McConnell’s 2014 reelection campaign headquarters in Louisville, Ky., when Judd was considering running for office.
"I refer to [Judd] as sort of the oppo research situation where there's a haystack of needles, just because truly, there’s such a wealth of material," McConnell’s aide said in the tape.
He later broke down all of Judd’s supposed political weaknesses like supporting President Obama, Obamacare, abortion rights and climate change action.
Afterward McConnell and his aides discussed Judd’s mental health history and how to use it to their advantage.
“She's clearly, this sounds extreme, but she is emotionally unbalanced,” one of McConnell’s aides said. “I mean it's been documented. Jesse can go in chapter and verse from her autobiography about, you know, she's suffered some suicidal tendencies. She was hospitalized for 42 days when she had a mental breakdown in the '90s.”
Below is an expert from the tape leaked to Mother Jones.
