From The Guardian:
“Sanford's political career was derailed four years ago when he disappeared from the state and later admitted to an extramarital affair with an Argentinian woman – they are now engaged.”
96% of precincts have currently reported with Sanford ranging around 57% of the primary vote and 43% for Curtis Bostic, a Charleston country council member. The two candidates were in a Republican runoff in the 1st Congressional District of South Carolina, covering the south coast.
The Democratic candidate also in the running for the chair will be Elizabeth Colbert Busch, the sister of widely popular political satirist, Steven Colbert. The Green Party ballot lists Eugene Platt.
