Five Killed In Illinois Shooting, Suspect In Custody

Five people were found shot to death in a home in Manchester, Ill., Wednesday morning with the suspect in police custody.
According to CBS News, the suspect tried to run from the scene, causing a high-speed chase in the southwestern Illinois community located about 50 miles west of Springfield. The pursuit lasted for about two hours.
The Chicago Tribune reported that the victims were identified by relatives as: Joanne Sinclair, 65, her granddaughter Brittany Luark, 22, her boyfriend Roy Ralston, Nolan Ralston, 5, and Brantley Ralston, 1. Another child, Cassidy Ralston, 7, was in serious condition from a gunshot wound, according to Brad Teeter, Sinclair's son-in-law.
- "The guy broke into the house," Teeter said. "I couldn't tell you about the guy, never met him, never seen him, never talked to him. Apparently broke into the home of my wife's mother and shot everybody inside."
- The victims lived in a first-floor apartment of a housing development, according to state police spokeswoman Monique Bond. Initial reports said they were shot to death, but Bond said officials were still trying to determine how they were killed.
According to Fox News, three school districts were closed in the area when the superintendent had been warned that the suspect was still at large.
