The Federal Aviation Authorities (FAA) are investigating a plane crash reported in the Santa Monica Mountains near Calabasas Monday. The plane crash was the second reported to the FAA after another plane completed an emergency landing at the Westlake Golf Course earlier Monday afternoon.

Capt. Tom Richards of the county Fire Department told The L.A. Times that "There has been a report of wreckage...It's unconfirmed." Members of the department are hiking up into the rugged area of Muholland Drive and Las Virgenes to investigate the wreckage.

The three passengers on the flight that landed at the golf course sustained non-life threatening injuries. No further information has been released on the most recent plane crash in the Santa Monica Mountains.

Although it is not yet clear if the two incidents are related, the Malibu Times and ABC 7 are reporting that a brush fire near the wreckage of the second plane may have caused the crash.
