Collapsed Building Owner Arrested as Death Toll Climbs

Dhaka building owner was arrested at the Indian border; Saturday after spending a week hiding from authorities due to the collapse of an illegally constructed building in Bangladesh collapsed killing over 300 people according to the BBC.

The Associated Press reports Mohammed Sohel Rana was captured while fleeing into India's West Bengal state and was put on a helicopter and taken back to the capital of Dhaka where he faces charges.

According to Fox news the death toll from the disastrous collapse is at 362 people but is expected to rise as crews continue to look through the rubble for bodies.

Rana was last seen Tuesday in public in front of his Rana Plaza after huge cracks appeared in the building. He assured tenants, including five garment factories, that the building was safe, according to witnesses.

The factories in the building employed over 3,000 workers and 2,500 survivors have been accounted for.
