Boston authorities responded to two explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon.

The marathon, which brings nearly 27,000 runners through Boston streets, was struck with two explosions that are responsible for two deaths and over 100 injuries many of which involve the loss of arms and legs. Former NY Congressman Rick Lazio, told CNN on " The Situation Room" that multiple hospitals in the Boston area confirmed they are servicing victims of the attack including two area hospitals servicing over 20 victims each.

President Obama gave a speech at a press conference Monday afternoon. He insisted that all resources are being deployed as needed and sent to America's locations for extra security. The president stated that noone has been identified as a suspect or group deemed responsible for the bombing. Yet he assured the public that "we will find out who did this and we will hold them responsible," further he added, the individual or groups responsible for the bombings will "feel the full weight of justice".

According to the Huffington Post Attorney General Eric Holder has directed the full resources of the Justice Department to investigate the bombs which exploded at the Boston Marathon earlier Monday. Although the Boston Police Department is a part of the investigation many other law officials have been called in to help. The FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are also expected to assist Boston authorities with the investigation. The ATF, according to CBS New York will reconstruct the explosive and analyze fragments for further information.

This news comes shortly after the FBI confirmed that a level-1 mobilization alert has been placed on all authorities and if needed are planning to check flight manifestos for international flights. CNN national security contributor and former homeland security adviser sources had this to say:

"Initial tests indicate that the two bombs were small and possibly crude, with the tests not indicating any high-grade explosive material was used, a federal law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation told

The source said the FBI considers the incident a terrorist attack, "but they've made clear to me they do not know at this time whether those responsible for the attack were a foreign or domestic group," Townsend said."

However, Boston is not the only state on alert. Los Angeles, Washington and New York are on security alert after the attack. Along with these citites all other U.S. authorities are on alert and New York's mayor Michael Bloomberg said, secuirty was increased at " strategic locations and critical infrastructure, including our subways.” According to PM News he went on to state:

“We have 1,000 members of the NYPD assigned to counterterrorism duties, and they — along with the entire NYPD and the investments we have made in counterterrorism infrastructure — are being fully mobilized to protect our city,”

“As law enforcement authorities investigate today’s explosions in Boston, I ask all New Yorkers to keep the victims and their families in your thoughts and prayers.”
