The 11th Annual Grilled Cheese Invitational is a little more than one week away. The April 20 competition will feature all types of cheesy goodness from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Los Angeles Center Studios

Considered “the largest, craziest and most exciting grilled cheese cooking contest in the country,” the Grilled Cheese Invitational features a competition among vendors pursuing the perfect grilled cheese sandwich. Competitors range from amateurs in the food industry to professional trucks and food truck vendors.

The event was first created by Tim Walker in 2003 as a friendly competition in Downtown Los Angeles. Since then, it has evolved into a national movement dedicated to pursuing the ultimate “Grilled Cheese Sammich” and perfecting all grilled cheese art.

This year’s competition will feature more than 200 competitors vying for the winning title of “Grilled Cheese Champion,” numerous food vendors offering the best of the best in gourmet grilled cheese, the renowned “Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine” for entertainment, and multiple microbreweries providing premium beer on site.

Presale tickets for this year’s competition have been available since March 8 and are going fast, so don’t wait to the last minute to purchase yours. Competitors who want to participate in the event can still register as well.
