Sprinkles Cupcakes opened its newest So Cal location on March 6 at 9 a.m. in the Downtown Los Angeles Figat7th complex.

The nationwide cupcakery—which just launched a new store on Black Friday last year at The Grove—is located right across from City Target on the middle level in the Downtown L.A. location (one floor above the “Taste Figat7th” dining area).

To commemorate the store’s opening, the Sprinkles celebration included elements similar to those at its launch at The Grove. For example, 10 “Golden Tickets” were once again baked inside several cupcakes, and winners of the tickets received a $100 Sprinkles gift card. To ensure fairness, though, the cupcakery announced it would be baking the tickets into cupcakes throughout the day, so not only the early birds had a shot at winning.

The line to enter the newest Sprinkles store started more than 15 minutes before the 9 a.m. opening. At around 8:45 a.m., a line of about 50 people had formed outside of the store, increasing with every minute and extending all the way down toward Target’s entrance

Charles Nelson, who opened the first Sprinkles Cupcakes store in Beverly Hills in 2005 with his wife, Candace, was present at the beginning of the Sprinkles Downtown L.A. grand opening.

“We are very excited about the Downtown L.A. opening,” Nelson said. “It’s [already] far exceeded our expectations. There are so many students and workers in the Downtown area, and we are excited to be part this new center [Figat7th].”
