Sandra Cazares went to a South Central L.A. polling station Tuesday morning to place a vote for her former high school teacher, Ron Gochez, for city council.

“I met him at school and now I am working with him”, Cazares said. She has followed Gochez, doing community work and she sees him as “a real leader.”

Gochez taught her Latin and American studies at Santee High School.

In the mayoral race, Cazares said she voted for Emanuel Pleitez because of his strong speech. As for opponent Jan Perry’s performance in the city council, Cazares said, “She’s done OK but it’s time for some change.”

Cazares voted against the sales tax increase measure because “we don’t need to increase taxes to put more officers on the street, the safety of community is based on trust."
