President Obama Calls For Gun Control Support

The legislation Obama supports calls for expanded background checks, tougher laws against gun trafficking and those who buy guns for others not allowed to legally purchase them and improving school security.

According to CNN, The President made numerous references to the Newtown shooting and urged citizens to not let the passage of time make them forget what happened. He said, "Shame on us if we've forgotten. I haven't forgotten those kids… We need everybody to remember how they felt 100 days ago (after the Newtown shooting) and make sure (what we said then) wasn't just a bunch of platitudes."

The event, reports the Huffington Post, was one in a series of planned rallies Thursday in support of gun control.
