President Obama will host a dinner party Wednesday for a small group of GOP senators, as part of an effort to address the long-term deficit.

The dinner will take place at the Jefferson Hotel and will include Sens. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma, John McCain of Arizona and Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, among the 11 invited guests. The dinner is part of a strategy to break a partisan impasse on taxes and spending cuts, reported ABC News.

The NY Times said many of the senators, including Lindsey Graham and Coburn have sought a bipartisan deficit-reduction deal for years, while other guests have hounded the Obama administration throughout his term.

The president will continue meeting with GOP representatives on Capitol Hill starting next week, a stark contrast from the hands-off approach taken during his campaign run. He is expected to attend a Republican Policy Lunch and a conference with Speaker John Boehner.
