Downhill Mountain Biking: End Of The Winter Series -- VIDEO
Southridge Winter Race Series #5 on Pinkbike
This past weekend marked the final race of the "Winter Series" in Fontana, California. What blows my mind is that the only time grass and foliage flourish in all of Southern California is during the so-called winter. Coming from the East Coast, this is all backwards to me, and when one should be skiing, people are out hiking, biking, and surfing from December through March.
Regardless of the weather, camping was an excellent experience for the weekend - celebrating my friend Chris' birthday by the fire the night before our race. The racing went well for the most part, I enjoyed figuring out the best places for the bikes to go, all at my speed. Turns out when you go faster (which I need to do) the course can look incredibly different.
The fastest man on the mountain and the winner for the weekend came from nearby Rancho Santa Margarita, professional KHS mountain bike rider, Kevin Aiello. With the racing season completed, my biking adventures across the country await the close of the semester. Until then, I'll hopefully have some interesting profiles and adventures to class.
