Vernon Brown, a 65-year-old resident in South Los Angeles, went to Kilgore Manor to cast his vote for Los Angeles mayor.

“I’ve seen her a few times at the Watts Labor Community Action Committe,” said Brown after explaining that he voted for Councilwoman Jan Perry.

Brown explains that the factor leading him to vote for Perry was based on meeting her in person and having the opportunity to speak with her.

When asked what developments he wants to see in the city, he expressed a desire to have streets improved.

“They can improve streets. [But] budget is so bad, I don’t know if she’ll make a difference,” said Brown.

Resident Rosa Serrano, 65, said her motivation to vote for primary elections in Los Angeles was based on research she did on the candidates.

Serrano voted for Emanuel Pleitez for mayor of Los Angeles, confidently saying that he is the man for the job.

She said that initially she didn’t know a lot about Pleitez, but after reading more about him she came to realize that he cares about her community.

Serrano hopes that once Pleitez comes to office that he will focus on maintaining Los Angeles and particularly focus on keeping her streets clean of garbage.
