Hugo Chavez's Cause Of Death Revealed

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez's death was caused by a massive heart attack, announced the head of the presidential guard late Wednesday. 

General Jose Ornella spent the last two years with Chavez, including the president's final moments.

"He couldn't speak but he said it with his lips…'I don't want to die. Please don't let me die,' because he loved his country, he sacrificed himself for his country," said Ornella.

At the time of his death on Tuesday, Chavez had been suffering for two years from an unspecified type of cancer, according to the Daily Mail. The Venezuelan government said that Chavez had been suffering from a severe respiratory infection as well.

The 58-year-old had undergone four cancer surgeries and multiple bouts of chemotherapy and radiation over the past months. 

Chavez ran the Venezuelan nation for 14 years.
