House Votes On Budget Bill To Prevent Government Shutdown
The bill will be sent to President Obama for his signature, which will take place after the president's return from Israel this weekend.
Right before a taking a two-week recess, House Republicans and Democrats voted 318-109 to approve the measures, which, the New York Times is reporting, includes underfunding important elements of the president's health care initiatives.

In a seperate bill, House Republicans, led by former Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan, pushed through a budget outline that would controversially turn Medicare into a voucher program, repeal "Obamacare" and remove Wall Street regulatory reforms. The vote passed 221-207, along party lines, with 10 Republicans joining the Democrats in opposing the outline.
Though this outline will not become law, it illustrates the huge divide between the Republicans and Democrats during this Congressional cycle.
The passage of the funding bill came just six days before the government shut down would have occured. Members of Congress would not have been affected by the shut down, as by law, they would continue to receive payments during any such shut down.
