With less than 24 hours before Tuesday's primary, City Attorney candidate Greg Smith, a private L.A. attorney known for representing government employees in whistle-blowing, injury and discrimination suits against their employers, remains calm and assertive as he continues promoting his candidacy.

"For 25 years I’ve been representing people for discrimination and for corruption in city government,” Smith shared with Neon Tommy on a phone interview Monday morning.

"In office, I would work towards ending discrimination and corruption," Smith added.

Smith, a newcomer, will be running against first-term City Atty. Carmen Trutanich and former lawmaker, Mike Feuer. According to a poll conducted by the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy and The L.A. Times, Feuer is ahead of the two other candidates with 23.8% of those surveyed indicating him as their candidate of choice. Incumbent Trutanich came second with 16.4%, and newcomer, Greg Smith came third with 15.2%.

A small margin separates Smith and Trutanich, one which according to Dan Schnur, Director of the Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics at USC, could be narrowed by Smith's television and radio advertising; especially since 40% of surveyed voters indicated they "didn't know" who they were voting for.

According to statistics on the same USC/LA Times poll,  Trutanich and Smith counted with a similar percentage of white votes, 16.7 to 16.4%; however, when it came to the Latino vote, Trutanich was ahead of Feuer and Smith, with 22.8% of Latino votes compared to  17.8 and 12.7, respectively.

In an effort to cater to the key Latino demographic, Candidate Smith will be attending a dinner party Monday night in Downtown L.A. with some Latino activists.
