The No. 7 UCLA Bruins out-blocked (6.5 to 4.0) and out-served (7 aces to 0) the No. 9 USC Trojans on their way to a 25-18, 25-21, 25-17 sweep over USC at Galen Center on Monday night.

Outside hitters Dane Worley and Robart Page both came up with big kills for UCLA. Worley hit over .500 while notching 12 kills, 3 blocks and 2 aces for the Bruins, while Page added an additional 10 kills.

Standout attackers for the Trojans included Tanner Jansen who led USC with 14 kills (.357) and Joey Booth who had 8 kills (.438).

In the first set, USC dug itself into a 7-2 point deficit that it never was able to recover from. Despite a near comeback, the combination of UCLA serving and hitting allowed the Bruins to overcome Trojan passing and defense in a second set victory.  In the third set, USC’s offense simply couldn’t keep up with the Bruins, who hit .714 to close out the match.

The Trojans will try to reverse a skid in which they have lost six of seven matches when they take on UC Santa Barbara on Thursday night (7 p.m.) at Galen Center.
