Often it seems that the only thing that keeps people hooked to TV is the intense drama that invariably comes with a large percentage of TV shows; from intense violence between characters to on-and-off again romances, there is a lot of gripping yet tragic occurrences on everyone's favorite shows. One aspect of TV shows which can cause nothing but a smile is one that is sometimes overlooked: that of the bromance. So without further ado, here are Neon Tommy's picks for top TV bromances.

7. Luke and Manny from "Modern Family"

Luke and Manny are polar opposites and are rarely able to understand each other or each other’s actions, yet for some bizarre reason their friendship works. This relationship could easily have turned into extreme dislike, but instead the two "Modern Family" characters have developed a strong and comical bromance.

6. Jax and Opie from "Sons of Anarchy"

The fact that these characters are in a motorcycle gang that focuses on brotherhood may make this one seem rather obvious on paper, but the truth is that there is so much mistrust between the majority of the members of "Sons of Anarchy" that it almost seems as if the term “bromance” is non-existent within the TV show. This only makes the bromance Jax and Opie have appear even stronger: they always strive to protect each other, to such an extent that Opie sacrifices his life for Jax.

5. Damon and Stefan from "The Vampire Diaries"

It may be true that the handsome vampire brothers occasionally (or frequently) want to murder each other for issues such as being in love with the same girl, Damon’s reckless actions, Stefan’s fall into being a ripper, and just general brotherly love. Yet when it comes right down to it Damon and Stefan are always there for each other, sacrificing their own happiness for the other even when it seems their relationship is based solely on hatred (to no avail, although that’s not the point.)

4. Ted, Barney and Marshall from "How I Met Your Mother"

Rather than a dynamic duo we have the wonderful trio that is Ted, Barney and Marshall. It can be argued that this spot could also have been taken by the equally hilarious trio of Workaholics, but the truth is that although the three leading men of "How I Met Your Mother" have their fair share of humor (or rather, more than their fair share), their bromance is significantly more substantial and based on genuine love for each other (or in Barney’s case love for himself which somehow translates into love for the other two.)

3. Spongebob and Patrick from "Spongebob Squarepants"

These two are some of the most loved characters from the childhood era (and, let’s face it, are still watched by those significantly older than the aimed demographic), and with good reason: their bromance is one that could only exist in the world of TV. Definitely deserving of the top 3 spot; after all, when Spongebob asks Patrick what he usually does when he’s gone, Patrick honestly replies: “Wait for you to come back”.

2. JD and Turk from "Scrubs"

It’s guy love between two guys. There’s not much else to say apart from take a listen to their bromance song aptly named “Guy Love." Everything will make sense.

1. Joey and Chandler from FRIENDS

Womanizing Joey and hilarious (-ly awkward) Chandler are the perfect representation of a bromance. They have true friendship, which is fitting considering the title of the show. Their bromance is unrivaled, and would you really have it any other way?
