Move over Kardashians, there a new reality star coming to E!, and his name is... Ryan Lochte? Yes, thats right, Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte will be the star of his very own reality show set to air on April 21st, which is currently a six episode series entitled "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?". Lochte first stepped on the scene in his 2008 Olympic appearance, however he was ultimately over shadowed by Michael Phelps. Just four years later Ryan Lochte reappeared on the Olympic stage, beating Michael Phelps once, and creating a name for himself in the world of swimming and pop culture. Still, given this background, it is no suprise if just about everyone is still wondering why this would possibly make him an ideal candidate for a reality show. But there may be a few reasons E! saw star potential in Lochte.

It was clear to all who watched the Olympics that Ryan Lochte certainly has a face for TV. Most women in America were left drooling over Lochte with his swimmer's physique and a face to match. So really, who wouldn't want to see more of that on television? Though it is doubtful the show will contain any real substance, there is certainly no harm in watching 30 minutes of Ryan Lochte going about his everday life.

Another thing clear to most who watched the 2012 Summer Olympics was that when interviewed, whether at the actual Olympics or on shows following his return home, the amount of time Lochte spent in the pool rather than in school or the real world tends to show. With his recent introduction to fame and money, seeing him attempt to navigate the world on his own with his newfound notoriety is bound to be worth at least watching the first episode for. If not the whole series.
Though I, along with most of the country, was suprised and doubtful when I heard of the up and coming "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?", there is one reason why I will most certainly give the show a try - my faith in E! as reality television producers. Back in 2007 E! introduced us all to the Kardashian family with the now well known show, "Keeping Up With The Kardashians." When the premise of the show was introduced everyone wondered who the Kardashian's were and what their show could possibly be about. Flash forward six years and here we are still trying to keep up with those Kardashians both on- and off-screen. That's not even mentioning those of us that keep up with the family spin-offs that seem to keep on coming. Back in August of 2012, E! also introduced the show "Married to Jonas". Once again I was skeptical, but was pleasently surprised when the show turned out to be both funny and endearing, and is actually making its season two premiere the same night as, "What Would Ryan Lochte Do?". So, who knows, maybe E! has found another reality TV gem in Ryan Lochte and for the year to come we will all be asking, "What Would Ryan Locthe Do?"
