Christopher Dorner, the focus of a region-wide manhunt, is a former Los Angeles Police Officer and a former member of the United States Navy Reserve. Dorner is 33 years old. Dorner was an explorer before he became an LAPD officer.

NBCLA reported Dorner used to reside in Orange County, the county where Monica Quan and Keith Lawrence were murdered. Dorner's mother still lives in the area.

Dorner was relieved of duty by the LAPD in 2008 while Bill Bratton was chief. KNX 1070 spoke with Bratton Thursday morning. KNX also tweeted that Dorner was employed by the police department from February 2002 until September 2008.

The Business Insider reported Dorner's last day in the Navy was just last week, on Feb. 1. According to CNN, Dorner held the rank of lieutenant.
