The autopsies for an Irvine couple who were discovered shot and killed on Sunday will not be released until Wednesday, according to The L.A. Times.

The bodies of Keith Lawrence, 27, a USC security officer, and Monica Quan, 28, an assistant women's basketball coach at Cal State Fullerton, were found in their car parked on the top floor of their upscale, high-security condominium complex near UC Irvine.

The Times reported that "they were each shot multiple times, and authorities said they have tentatively ruled out the possibility of the crime being a murder-suicide or motivated by robbery." Neither Lawrence nor Quan were armed.

The two had recently moved into the complex since getting engaged in January. They had met at Concordia University in Irvine where they had both played basketball.

Neon Tommy reported that USC's Department of Public Safety hired Lawrence, a graduate of the Ventura County Sheriff's Academy, this past summer as an armed officer. The department's chief, John Thomas, issued a memo to USC safety staff Monday:

  • "During his brief tenure of service here at USC, Officer Lawrence proved to be an honorable, compassionate and professional member of our department and the Trojan family," he wrote. "We are a better department and the USC Campus Community is a safer place as a result of his service.

Monica Quan was remembered at a memorial service on Tuesday where she was described as someone who was focused, well-liked and a talented athlete.

“She had basically done everything you could do right,” Mike James, a teacher at Walnut High and Quan’s coach for two years, said Tuesday, to The Times.
