A San Bernardino sheriff's deputy has died following a mountain shootout in Angelus Oaks with a person that authorities believe to be Christopher Dorner, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Another officer is wounded and is expected to be okay.

Meanwhile, the man thought to be Dorner has barricaded himself in a nearby cabin. The shootout occurred after San Bernardino police received a call around 12:22pm about a stolen vehicle from the 1200 block of Club View Drive.

At a press conference earlier today, the Los Angeles Police Department could not confirm that the perpetrator was Dorner, but nevertheless insisted that the media avoid shooting live footage of the scene in case Dorner was watching.

"Obviously it will put our officers at an extreme tactical disadvantage if the suspect knows what we are doing," said Andrew Smith, a police spokesman.

Smith did confirm that the LAPD has sent "resources" to assist the San Bernardino police department in the possible capture of the fugitive ex-cop who is also wanted for the murder of an Irvine couple on Sunday and a Riverside police officer early Thursday morning.

"Enough is enough," said Smith. "It's time to turn yourself in. It's time to stop the bloodshed."

Dorner declared "unconventional and asymmetrical warfare" against his former department for their racist and corrupt practices -- practices which he outlined in an 11,000 word manifesto.
