Time Warner Cable announced Friday the company would no longer show ads featuring people pointing guns at others or semiautomatic weapons of any kind.

According to Broadcasting & Cable, Time Warner released a statement on the move:

"We no longer accept ads showing semi-automatic weapons and guns pointed at people… We stand by this policy. If it's essential to a business owner to show this kind of imagery in their commercials, there are other advertising options in the marketplace."

The Daily Beast pointed out Time Warner appears to be the first company to answer President Barack Obama's urging for powerful entities to start doing "something to protect our communities and our kids."
