Second Man Involved In Lone Star College Shooting Will Not Face Charges

A man involved in the argument that escalated into gunfire at Houston’s Lone Star College will likely not face charges in Tuesday’s shooting, the Associated Press reported.
Jody Neal, 25, and Carlton Berry, 22, were arguing at the college’s North Harris campus when Berry allegedly shot a weapon, injuring three people including himself, Neal and a maintenance man who was shot in the leg.
Berry was charged Wednesday with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Neal and Berry remained in the hospital Wednesday.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Thomas Gilliland told the Associated Press that authorities have yet to determine if the argument was an “ongoing altercation or if it stemmed from that day” and whether the two were students at the community college.
Lone Star college released a statement Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Times reported.
"We know there is significant national dialog regarding the unfortunate frequency of shootings on public school or college campuses," Jed T. Young, a spokesman, said in the statement. "Though we never expected to be a part of that discussion, we hope that there are always things that can be learned and our protocols will be evaluated regarding the best way to protect students and employees."
