In the wake of the death of Aaron Swartz, 26, cofounder of Reddit, The Archive Team, an online activist group launched a memorial to the internet pioneer. According to the website, “The Aaron Swartz Memorial JSTOR Liberator is a tiny bit of civil disobedience, presented to you in clicktivism form. By running this bookmarklet (which you should not do if you are not comfortable potentially violating terms of service), you will visit JSTOR, a keeper of academic articles, be presented with a random paper, and will download a single paper from the site."

Before his suicide, federal prosecutors charged Swartz with 13 counts of computer and wire fraud for supposedly downloading illegally nearly 4.3 million articles from JSTOR between 2010 and 2011. Swartz’s family suspects that these charges ultimately led him to commit suicide.
