In his second inaugural address, President Barack Obama invoked gay rights, economic equality, the urgency of climate change and the need to end political "name calling."

He also spoke about the need to end America's foreign wars.

Obama selected the poet Richard Blanco to read at the capitol.  Blanco became the youngest poet to do so, the first gay poet to do so and the first Latino poet to do so.

The pastor who gave the benediction made special mention of gay people during his prayer.
