New Term, New Look: Michelle Obama Is Stunning In A Jason Wu Dress

Yesterday marked the beginning of a new term for President Barack Obama, who was sworn in for another four years and this year, the President limited the official festivities to two official Inaugural Balls held at the same convention center: the Commander-In-Chief Ball and the Inaugural Ball. CNN described the venue accordingly.

Organizers converted the convention center's massive, bare-bones exhibit hall into a slightly less bare-bones ballroom. No chandeliers here, just a few drapes and decorations to spruce up the exposed ceiling and fluorescent lights. Revelers danced on the center's industrial concrete floor.

The Inaugural Ball was split between two floors in the building, and attendees were not allowed to go from floor to floor.

However, even more anticipated than the inauguration is the designer First Lady Michelle Obama chose to wear that evening at the official 2013 Inaugural Ball. President Obama wore a traditional black tuxedo with a white bow tie, while Michelle sported a super chic haircut with bangs and a red chiffon halter neck dress with velvet details designed by none other than Jason Wu, the same designer who created her classic white gown from the 2009 Inauguration Ball.

Many were surprised that Mrs. Obama opted out of wearing a new designer and affording that person the chance to become a household name like Mr. Wu back in 2009. However, her choice in dress for the festivities was extremely flattering for her figure and her best assets: her toned arms. And to top off the ensemble, Michelle wore Jimmy Choos with a custom diamond ring by Kimberley McDonald and a set of sparkly bangles on her arm. I especially loved her hairstyle and makeup, both of which flawlessly completed her look for the evening. After the event, Michelle's entire outfit and accessories will be donated to the National Archives.

Performers included Alicia Keys, Brad Paisley, Marc Anthony, Katy Perry, FUN, Maná, and Jennifer Hudson among other scheduled performers such as Far East Movement, members of the cast of "Glee," John Legend, Stevie Wonder, Usher, Soundgarden, Soul Children of Chicago, and Mindless Behavior.

Alicia Keys also wore an open back red gown by Michael Kors during her performance, and Jennifer Hudson donned a black gown with a v-neckline.
