A 15-year-old boy is in custody as detectives try to uncover what led to the shooting deaths of five people, including three children, who were found in a New Mexico home, the Associated Press reported.

The teenager was arrested on murder and other charges in connection to the Saturday night shooting that happened in a rural area southwest of downtown Albuquerque, said Lt. Sid Covington, a Bernalillo County sheriff's spokesman. Covington said detectives were working to identify the five victims, in addition to the teenager's relation to them.

Investigators found several guns at the home, including a semi-automatic military-style rifle, and are trying to determine who owned the weapons. The teenager, whose name is being withheld during the early stages of the investigation because he is a juvenile, was booked on two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse resulting in death.
