Indian police report that they are investigating two new possible cases of gang rape in what has become a string of violent assaults against women, according to Bloomberg.

On Jan. 12, a woman was found hanging half-naked from a tree.  Police suspected she was raped.

"It is a tragedy but at the same time I am not particularly surprised," said Manpreet Singh Badal, a former finance minister who has started his own political party, according to Bloomberg.  "Until men fear the law then these types of crime are going to continue."

The recent rape incidents, including the death of a 23-year-old woman, have caused an outcry in India, where a woman was raped every 22 minutes in 2011, according to the National Crime Records Bureau.
