The city of Glendale will consider banning gun shows at the Glendale Auditorium at tonight's city council meeting, reports the Los Angeles Times.

Council member Rafi Manoukian first proposed the idea in December in wake of the Sandy Hook shooting. The Glendale Gun Show has used the auditorium since 1992.

Critics of the ban say it won't curb gun violence. Last week, gun advocates showed up at council chambers and tried to remove the ban off from Tuesday's agenda, but the council refused.

The city has several options to carry out the ban. Among them: canceling rental contracts with the gun show, letting the show run throughout 2013 before banning it, and banning gun sales on public property.

The meeting will start at 6:00 PM.
