While 2012 has come to an end, the new year's fashion trends don’t seem to want to part with last season's trademarks. Be prepared to rock these bold pieces with a 2013 twist.

LEOPARD & FUR
This winter upgraded the staple pea coats and puffy jackets with luxe fur detailing for outerwear. My personal favorite trend was the leopard coat that started popping up at the very end of last month. I don’t think people are going to give up this trend for a while, and I have very high hopes it will make a comeback next winter. Most fashionistas aren't likely to rock a leopard fur coat come summer time.

LEATHER
Winter collections featured this accent must from high fashion to mainstream goods, and it seems like leather elements, both genuine and faux, will continue to make their mark in 2013. The spring fashion shows featured many leathered looks, so don’t be surprised if people are still rocking combat and motorcycle boots with leather jackets into spring. For great steals check out Zara’s line of leather accented t-shirts and dresses.

PRINTS
There’s definitely something to be said about loud prints mixed thoughtfully. Spring floral staples will be getting an upgrade this year with bolder colors and more ink jet digital printing.

COLOR
To go along with the prints you will be seeing, many high-end brands have focused on bright jewel tones in the Spring 2013 fashion shows. From Gucci and Chanel’s standout Yves Klein Blue (the very color the designer patented in 1961) to Stella McCartney emerald green.
GREAT GATSBY
My prediction come May is that the flapper will make a major come back. There is no doubt that the movie remake of The Great Gatsby is going to have girls ‘oohing and ahhing’ at the fashion of the 20s. If the fur-lined winter gear inspired by the release of Anna Karenina is any indication, fringed dresses and fabulous dazzling jewelry will start to make their way into stores come spring.

RUFFLES
The peplum trend of 2012 will be expanding in 2013. Except instead of just one ruffle around the waistline, they seem to be multiplying. Many looks from the spring runways, including Marni, Chloe, and Balenciaga, featured ruffles cascading from hips down to the knees, but plunging necklines and high-cut slits were incorporated to give this trend a fresh edge.

JAILBIRD STRIPES
Black and white are timeless colors, but in 2013 they might just surprise you. Marc Jacobs, Moschino, and Dolce and Gabbana’s spring shows all featured many thick horizontal and vertical burglar stripes in these shades that stole attention on the runway.
PEEK-A-BOO
Cut outs have been all the rage the last couple years, but 2013 will bring a whole new kind of see-through style. Plastic see-through bags already made it from runways to stores like American Apparel (beware though, this trend does give everyone a peak into your personal belongings). Cut-outs are also becoming more creative as the midriff peek-a-boo look is becoming a constant on the red carpet and runways alike.
