Every other week, writer Mara Hyman takes a look at the buzzworthy short films coming from the music video universe. Here's her latest picks:

Nicole Scherzinger - "Boomerang"

Former Pussycat Dolls lead singer Nicole Scherzinger recently came out with her latest single, "Boomerang." The song is an upbeat dance track with a slight nod to '90s/early millenia pop songs, especially in the chorus. The music video is a very different choice for the singer stylistically as she is known for a modern look and sound. She uses heavy influences from the '80s consisting of a strong black and white contrast, neon colors and bold shapes. She also incorporates a lot of symmetry in her dance segments which creates a cool kaleidoscope effect. Are you a fan of Nicole's new style or do you miss her old hits from the Pussycat Dolls?

Kat Graham - "Wanna Say"

Kat Graham may be best known as an actress on the hit CW series "The Vampire Diaries," but you might not know that more recently she has tested out a singing career. Her latest single "Wanna Say," a catchy electronic club record, follows her song "Put Your Graffiti on Me" which was featured on "The Ellen Show." What the song may lack in terms of vocal ability, Kat makes up for in the video with choreography, interesting lighting effects, costumes and those hard to miss eyebrows. What are your thoughts on Kat Graham's entry into the world of music? Are you a fan or do you think she should stick to acting?

Colbie Caillat feat. Gavin DeGraw - "We Both Know"

Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw recently joined forces in a beautiful duet off of the soundtrack for the movie "Safe Haven" with a song called "We Both Know." The love song incorporates powerful harmonies, dynamic instrumentals and even a surprising hint of country. The accompanying music video includes half "Safe Haven" movie clips and half nature scenes + interactions between Colbie and Gavin. The video ends with a pretty fireworks show on the dock of a lake. What are your thoughts on this duet, especially compared to Colbie's other famous duet with Jason Mraz, "Lucky"?

The Wanted - "I Found You"

The popular UK boy band The Wanted is back with a second video for their hit song "I Found You," which is a fan verson. The song packs a punch with an upbeat tempo and a chorus that shows off the singers' higher register. Surprisingly however, the new video is much different than the first. Their original music video for "I Found You" acts as a mini-movie where the band goes on a mission to save a girl held captive and fight bad guys. In the new video, they instead fend off screaming fangirls on the set of an imitation variety show. The switch from black and white in the intro to bright colors as well as the general set up seems like an homage to The Beatles and their extreme success with female fans. Which is your favorite video between the two?

Carrie Underwood - "Two Black Cadillacs"

While The Wanted's song is lighthearted and fun, country star Carrie Underwood oppositely takes a dark turn with her next single, "Two Black Cadillacs." The song tells the story of a woman who discovers her husband was cheating on her, and she joins forces with his mistress who was also lied to to take revenge and kill him. The powerful song is accompanied by a mysterious music video which plays with dark colors and bright lights from the Cadillacs. The creepiest scene is when Carrie corners her husband in an alley with her car and kills him, accompanied by eerie music, which then switches to her and the other woman at his funeral. Are you surprised by Carrie's darker side, or is this an interesting change of pace for the singer?
