The system, which was trialed in the Los Angeles Unified School District last year, will allow the district to share required information with the Commission electronically.

The L.A. Times reported:

"The system's pilot run resulted in 2,000 more college-bound L.A. Unified students receiving state-funded Cal Grants in 2012 than in previous years."

The district is hopeful that the new system will continue to help high school seniors who would otherwise lack the resources to apply for and obtain financial aid.
