Britney Spears and Jason Trawick (Pinterest)

The Huffington Post reports that the breakup between the pop star and her ex-manager was amicable. In a statement released by Spears, she confirms, "Jason and I have decided to call off our engagement. I'll always adore him and we will remain great friends."  

"Britney Spears and Jason Trawick have mutually agreed to end their one-year engagement. As two mature adults, they came to the difficult decision to go their separate ways while continuing to remain friends," the singer's rep added. 

The pair began dating in 2009 and got engaged at the end of 2011. Spears has since returned her $90K engagement ring. 

Despite the breakup, Trawick insists he plans to stay in the 31-year-old's life. "As this chapter ends for us a new one begins. I love and cherish her and her boys and we will be close forever," he said in a statement. 

Trawick is no longer the singer's conservator, leaving her father Jamie Spears solely in charge.
