President Barack Obama is expected to announce his nominees for secretaries of state and defense in the next two weeks, Reuters reported. Former Republican Nebraska Sen. Chuck Hagel is a potential candidate to replace Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and head the Pentagon, senior administration officials told Reuters Tuesday.

Hagel currently co-chairs Obama’s Intelligence Advisory Board and is a professor at Georgetown University.

Other possible candidates to replace Panetta include former senior Pentagon official Michele Flourney, Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton Carter and Democratic Sen. John Kerry, Reuters reported.

Obama is also reportedly considering Kerry or Susan Rice to replace Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
