Protestors clashed with supporters of President Mohammed Morsi outside the presidential palace Wednesday, just hours after Morsi had returned to the palace.

According to CBS News, Morsi had left to avoid the tens of thousands of demonstrators outraged by his recent assumption of increased power.

About 300 people in opposition to Morsi's decree had staged a sit-in outside the palace Wednesday, but were forced to leave by Islamist supporters.

The Muslim Brotherhood, which continues to back Morsi, called for its supporters to stage a counter demonstration.

No casualties were immediately reported, but "witnesses said they saw several protesters with blood streaming down their faces," CBS reported.
