The National Weather Service has issued a blizzard warning for the majority of the Midwest, spanning from eastern Colorado to Wisconsin's Lake Michigan shoreline, according to CNN.

These areas are expected to receive up to 12 inches of snow and 25- to 35-mph winds that could get up to 50 mph.

The conditions caused a 156-mile stretch of Interstate Highway 70 between Denver and the Kansas state line to close. The eastbound lanes remained closed on Thursday.

So far, airlines are reporting few cancellations or delays in areas affected by the storm.
