Maine Issues First Same-Sex Marriage Licenses

Three years after a statewide referendum overturned same-sex marriage, Maine issued its first same-sex marriage licenses early Saturday.
Dozens lined up shortly after midnight to receive a marriage license at Portland City Hall. Other communities held special Saturday hours as well.
Gay marriage was approved by voters Nov. 29, only the third state to do so by popular vote.
The state will also recognize same-sex marriages ordained in other states.
