As we embrace the Christmas spirit, let's take a stroll down Hollywood lane, looking at some of the leading actors and actresses (Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway and Amanda Seyfried) who will be featured in the upcoming film adaptation of Victor Hugo's classic "Les Miserables."

In honor of their star power, we will take a look at their A-list film career from the past to present. Hope you're ready for the Hollywood “time machine!"

Russell Crowe

Then: Russell Crowe is a leading man in Hollywood and became a legendary badass on and off the screen. Crowe played “good cop-bad cop” Bud White in the throwback film noir “L.A. Confidential," and played a restless Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius out for revenge in the “Gladiators." Crowe was also the Western outlaw Ben Wade who ousted Dan Evans (Christian Bale) in “3:10 to Yuma”.

Now:  This year he returns to the big screen in another Oscar-worthy performance as Inspector Javert in “Les Miserables.”  You can catch Crowe in the “Broken City” in 2013 and “Noah” in 2014.

Hugh Jackman

Then: Hugh Jackman’s breakout role was playing the Wolverine in “X-Men." He later reprised himself as the Wolverine in “X2,”” X-Men: The Last Stand,” “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and “X-Men: First Class.” He is box-office royalty and one of the hottest mutants on screen.

Now:  The Australian native will trade in his bone claws to play Jean Valjean, a Frenchman released from imprisonment, in “Les Miserables."  Also, look for Jackman in the X-Men film series - “The Wolverine” in 2013 and “X-Men: Days of Future Past” in 2014.

Anne Hathaway

Then:  Anne Hathaway’s claim to fame was her role in “Princess Diaries” as Mia Thermopolis, the nerdy-unknown princess. She later followed along the royalty path by reprising her role in “The Princess Diaries 2: The Royal Engagement.” She also played the rodeo-rider Lureen Newsome, who was married to Jake Gyllenhaal's character, in “Brokeback Mountain.”  Her other roles include slaving for fashion in “The Devil Wears Prada” as Andrea Sachs, and getting smart as Agent 99 in “Get Smart” alongside funnyman Steve Carell.

Now: Hathaway cut her hair and lost weight to play Fantine in “Les Miserables."  Look for her in “Rio 2” as Jewel in 2014.

Amanda Seyfried

Then: "Mean Girls" was Amanda Seyfried's breakout role, in which she played the ditzy Karen Smith who predicted the weather with her boobs. Seyfried was also in “Mamma Mia!” as Sophie Sheridan - opposite Meryl Streep - and a romantic darling in “Dear John” and “Letters to Juliet.”

Now: Amanda is no longer a superficial mean girl. She has matured from the "Plastics" for the role of Cosette in “Les Miserables.” Next year, the multitalented Seyfried will play pornstar Linda Lovelace in the biopic "Lovelace," where she will be sexing it up in front of the camera,
