Instagram Can Sell Photos With New Policy

Instagram users beware: your shared photos could end up in advertisements after its new terms of service allows companies to buy users' photos.

Effective Jan. 16, the new user agreement suggested pictures could be used "in connection with paid or sponsored content or promotions, without any compensation to you."

Users cannot opt out of the new terms, except by deleting an account entirely. Minors are not exempt from the new terms.

The move, which comes three months after Facebook acquired the company, has sparked outcry amongst users.

For any users looking to delete their account and preserve their pictures, Instaport allows users to export photos from the program. Yet, users may have to get in line to use the service. After a Wired article linked to the site, Instaport crashed due to high traffic and suggested users try again tomorrow or the next few days.
