Greetings Upper East Siders,

Please excuse the brevity of this recap as your writer is currently suffering from PDBBDD (Post Dramatic Bart Bass Death Disorder). Yes that is self-prognosis, but seriously, Bart Bass is officially dead. And I’m not sure what’s worse - the fact that I am happy about it, or that Chuck (and Blair) didn’t move an inch but only sat back and watched Bart's demise.

There’s only one episode left and after last night’s fandango there are so many questions to be asked, aside from my usual “where’s the music?” For starters, will Chuck and Blair finally be together now that Bart’s gone? Will Serena give in to Dan again? Will Derena actually happen once and for all? Will we finally find out who Gossip Girl actually is?

We’ll have to wait for answers to the aforementioned questions and more, but the WSJ concisely and cynically (which is very much appreciated) summarizes what you may have missed, or if you’re anything like this writer suffering from PDBBDD and need to be refreshed in order to mentally and emotionally prepare yourself for next week.

As I said, there are more questions aside from “where,” that also relate to the music. Like, who thought to turn Bart and Chuck’s final moments together into a scene from “Psycho”? I understand their interaction was pretty suspenseful, but the dramatic shift from Ellie Goulding’s “Holding On,” to thrilling instrumentals killed it. Literally. Why not Alex Clare’s “Whispering,” which has a very haunting feel as Clare sings, “Who will care for the falling?” So what if it's been used in a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills promo. I’m no expert, but I do know the severity of chills I get a little over a minute into the tune, which would have complimented Bart’s fall perfectly.

In fact, Goulding’s song, which usually features Tinie Tempah was the only (of four) that deserves recognition for it’s suitable placement as Serena walked away from a begging “lonely boy”.

Married to the Sea’s “Mutiny” was also featured in the sixth episode.

There’s one more. The final episode of the sixth and final season. We’ve witnessed power that seems to ensure priority and praise, but also exempts the Upper East Side characters from pity. We’ve been through break-ups, loves lost, and loves found. We’ve seen families torn apart only to be brought back together. We’ve laughed, witnessed deaths, and endless schemes. We’ve used Shazam, YouTube and Spotify to search for talented artists whose music has kept us hooked. And we’ve, well I've, expressed frustration when such artists and such music is no where to be found.

So, what’s next? Or rather who’s next? Whose music do you think the final episode will include?

My fingers are crossed, my ears open, but my eyes only partially, as I truly don’t know what to expect.

You know you hear me, xoxo.
