Former President George H.W. Bush has been moved out of the intensive care unit and into a regular patient room at Methodist Hospital in Houston, where he continues to recover from a fever following a bronchitis-related cough, Fox News reported.

The 88-year-old, who has been hospitalized since Nov. 23, was reportedly singing with the medical staff and is "in good spirits," according to a family spokesman.

"The Bushes thank everyone for their prayers and good wishes," Jim McGrath said.

Bush, a World War II veteran and oldest living U.S. president, famously skydived on his birthdays since leaving office, with the most recent attempt coming on his 85th birthday. A form of Parkinson's disease has forced him to get around on a motorized scooter or a wheelchair in recent years.
