Although opponents of the new constitution had proposed boycotting the polls, they joined with their fellow Egyptians to vote on it Saturday after waiting in line for hours at the polls.

The vote marks the culmination of upheaval in the nation caused by elements of the constitution that grant Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi more power. The country has been divided between supporters and opponents of the constitution for weeks.

Despite conflict over the constitution, it is expected to pass. Many Egyptians desire stability after near constant turmoil for the past few years.
