Remember “Salt”? Yeah, Angelina Jolie’s 2010 spy film isn’t exactly a pop culture touchstone, but that isn’t stopping the film from getting a sequel, provided they can hold down a writer. (The Hollywood Reporter)

FX has ordered a pilot from the creators of “Homeland.” The show, “Tyrant,” is about an American family that gets dragged into the political turmoil of a Middle Eastern country. (Vulture)

Disney Channel sweetheart (and “The Social Network” psycho) Brenda Song will be guest starring on an upcoming episode of “New Girl.” (EW)

Beyonce has signed with PepsiCo for a $50 million multiyear campaign, which will include not only traditional advertisements but also funding of Beyonce’s creative efforts by Pepsi. This is less an endorsement than a creative contract, and could be a game changer for celebrity endorsements. (NYT)

The first look at M. Night Shyamalan’s “After Earth,” featuring Will and Jaden Smith, is out, and despite the director’s shaky track record (never forget, “Avatar: The Last Airbender”), it’s looking good. (Deadline)
