The trial has been pushed back from early February to mid-March in order to allow time for more pretrial hearings regarding Manning's treatment in custody, including nine months of solitary confinement.

A United Nations investigation found that Bradley had been the subject of cruel and inhuman treatment by his military jailers, including being stripped naked and kept in close confinement against several psychiatrists' recommendations.

The former intelligence analyst is accused of leaking hundreds of thousands of documents regarding the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to Wikileaks. If convicted of the most serious of the 22 counts against him, Manning could face life imprisonment.
