One Direction... just... so... fascinating.
One Direction... just... so... fascinating.

‘Tis the season for hall decking, stocking stuffing, and Barbara Walters’ list of the 10 most fascinating people of the year. The list features household names in pop culture, sports, entertainment, politics, and more. Though most of the list has already been announced, the number one position will be released on the night of the special. In the meantime, we are able to look over what has already been given and predict for ourselves who the most fascinating person of 2012 could be.

So far, the top 8 of Walters’ list have been revealed. The list is comprised of actor/director Ben Affleck of “Argo,” the British sensation One Direction, Olympic gymnast Gabby Douglas, New Jersey governor Chris Christie, “Family Guy” creator Seth MacFarlane, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, “50 Shades of Grey” author E.L. James, and mini beauty pageant participant/reality star Honey Boo Boo. Needless to say, the list is quite a variety of talent and inspiration… as well as some comedic fodder. The top 2 are yet to be revealed, but there are a number of possibilities (not in order).

- Psy
The world has been taken over by Psy and his “Gangnam Style.” Everyone has heard the song, learned the choreography (or some variation of the sort), and laughed over the music video. His personality is endearing, hilarious, and, by all means, fascinating. Perhaps he does not have what it takes to top the list of the most fascinating people of 2012, but he is a solid choice for runner up.

- Kim Kardashian
Kim Kardashian and Kanye West (KIMYE!!)have picked up a ton of attention together as a couple, especially now with their wedding rumored to cost approximately $20 million. Kim, too, does not deserve the top position, but her over-the-top antics and overall zeal belong in the number two position.

- Justin Bieber
Always in the spotlight, Justin Bieber is truly a name that belongs at the forefront of Walter’s list. If One Direction made it to the list, Bieber is also a definite candidate. This year has seen a lot of Bieber – his split from Selena Gomez, his hit singles (including “Beauty & A Beat” with Nicki Minaj), his numerous awards from multiple award shows, and his “flirtations” with a certain Victoria’s Secret model.

- Barack Obama
After winning reelection, Barack Obama is a sure-fire win for the most fascinating person of the year. His inspirational messages and political influence are what catapulted him to the number one spot back in 2008 and, 4 years later, he deserves topping Walters’ list again.

The 90-minute special will air on ABC on Wednesday, December 12, at 9:30 p.m. EST.
