Arman Hamamah is a 21-year-old undergraduate student at the University of Southern California. He is a resident of Glendale and registered to vote in his original residency, and as such, his status on voting Tuesday is still undecided. If he were to vote, however, he said he is in support of Barack Obama to remain president.

NT: Why do you support Obama?

AH: I believe Obama as a human being when he speaks, and he actually wants the job as president. As a representative of the Republican Party, Romney just got lucky. When the Party asks you to step up for president, it's not something you can turn down. I just don’t think he really wants to do it and I don’t believe anything he says.

NT: What do you think of the voting process?

AH: The reasons people vote are not why we should actually vote for these people. The media brings up vague subjects that are important because they say so, not because we know what they are or how they will affect us. People need to figure out what they’re voting for and why, but it’s hard to trust what’s put out there. Politics is an annoying game, but voting is a fun way to get a sticker.

The propositions make more sense and you have more of a say. Propositions are popular vote. The Electoral College is outdated.

NT: What do you think of the economy?

AH: The nature of our capitalism screwed us over. A few people at the top decided to take power into their own hand and that’s how we got where we are now. It started with [Bill] Clinton's laws, which originally came from [Ronald] Reagan; deregulation on trading, more money, more power, abusing power. It’s not going to change anytime soon so long as the same people are in power. The president won't really have an impact on any of it. We’re going to fit the natural pattern we’ve established, but things keep changing because the way we use money keeps changing.

NT: What's your stance on reproductive rights?

AH: I’m anti-abortion. Unless you get raped, you shouldn't get an abortion. If the women is a rape victim, then it should be her choice what to do, just don't be dumb about it.
