Susan Rice, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, rejected Republican criticism of her remarks following the attack on the US embassy in Libya, according to Bloomberg.

“I do think that some of the statements he’s made about me have been unfounded, but I look forward to having the opportunity at the appropriate time to discuss all of this with him,” she said. “I have great respect for Senator McCain and his service to our country. I always have, and I always will.”

Rice has kept a low profile since receiving critics by Republicans for her televised description of the Libyan consulate attack as develop from a spontaneous protest against anti-Islamic video “Innocence of Muslims.”

President Barack Obama told Republican senators last week that if they had a problem with the handling of the Benghazi attacks in Libya then they should go after him.

Obama came after two Republican senators said they would stop and attempts by the President to but US ambassador to the United Nations Susan Rice into a Cabinet position that would require Senate confirmation.
